Catherine Larcombe | Western Sydney University Master of Clinical Psychology thesis study
Health care interpreters are invited to participate in a research project being conducted at Western Sydney University by Catherine Larcombe as her Master of Clinical Psychology thesis, supervised by Dr Roy Laube.
This study explores how confidentiality about health care is perceived and practised within culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. The findings of this study will inform culturally competent health care and build greater understanding of differences in cultural perspectives. As a health care interpreter you have unique insight into the influence of culture in health care.
The survey will run for approximately 15-20 minutes and participants will be asked to provide certain demographic details like age, gender and years of experience as a professional health care interpreter. Participants will then complete a questionnaire about the confidentiality of client health care information and values of the culture they interpret for.
