New Credential: Recognised Practising Deafblind Interpreter

In keeping with NAATI’s legacy as a global leader in the certification of signed language interpreters and translators, the introduction of this credential means that Australia is now one of only a few countries to provide specific training and certification for deafblind interpreters.

To be eligible for the credential, applicants need to hold NAATI Certification in Auslan or Deaf Interpreting and have completed Monash University’s Deafblind interpreting training. The Monash training package is the result of a project on Deafblind communication led by Monash and supported by the NAATI Research Fund.

To find out more about the credential, see the Monash University press release ‘Australia’s first accredited training for deafblind interpreters’  or visit the Recognised Practising Deafblind Interpreter information page on the NAATI website.
