NAATI Welcomes Two New Directors

The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd (NAATI) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Board members. 

  • Mr Nirmal Hansra – who brings significant senior executive management experience, financial and corporate advisory expertise across both the government and non-government sectors. 
  • Ms Josephine Buontempo – who brings extensive leadership experience at the managing director, executive and senior management levels across the social services, legal, government and corporate sectors.

The Chair of the NAATI Board, Ms Voula Messimeri said “Both Directors have unique skills, expertise and experience which will be an asset and complement the existing NAATI Board membership.” 

Ms Messimeri paid tribute to the outgoing Directors, Ms Mary Gurgone and Dr Michael Cooke, thanking them for “their invaluable contribution to the Board during a period of significant change and digital transformation ensuring NAATI’s sustainability into the future.” 

NAATI CEO, Mark Painting also thanked the outgoing Directors for their contributions and welcomed the new Board Directors “I am looking forward to working with the new Directors in continuing NAATI’s work in supporting the translating and interpreting profession in Australia.”
