Message from the Board

NAATI Chair Voula Messimeri AM with an important message regarding COVID-19

In the current and difficult global circumstances, NAATI remains dedicated to its vision for a connected community without language barriers.

The impact of COVID-19 means that it is not quite business-as-usual for our organisation as we move our staff into remote working arrangements as of Monday, 30 March 2020. Employee wellbeing and business continuity remain high priorities for us as we navigate through this challenging global event.

Whilst our physical offices will now be closed until at least the end of  June 2020, I want to assure you that our work continues across all states and territories, noting that this new operating environment will necessitate changes to our face-to-face activities and certification testing. Candidates with tests currently scheduled will be contacted directly.

We are continuing development work into the feasibility of online testing. This is being trialled for non-certification tests.  Work is also progressing in the development of examiner training and certification test development as a means of meeting our core mission to increase the number of certified translators and interpreters in our community.

NAATI’s Board and senior leadership team continue to meet regularly, in an online environment, to actively manage our operations and assess our business requirements.  Through the difficult times imposed by the pandemic we will keep our stakeholders informed by providing regular updates on our website at www.naati.com.au.

Be assured that NAATI continues to adapt and deliver services, which is underscored by the fact that all our offices and your contacts within NAATI are still reachable by telephone and email.

Protecting our team, stakeholders and our customers is paramount in our efforts to reduce the social and economic impacts of the virus and, minimising any subsequent disruption.

The Board and I remain committed to these priorities and our overarching mission to maximise people’s ability to engage and participate in Australian society.

Voula Messimeri AM

Chair
