NAATI is pleased to announce that we have made some significant changes to improve functionality, security and ease of use over the last few months to our customer management system. The final updates were made on 15 February 2023, so we can now share what this means for you as a valued practitioner.
Digital stamps and ID cards
We know that this first improvement has been requested for a while from many practitioners, and we’re pleased to announce that after much development, consultation and testing our digital stamps and digital ID cards are ready for use and accessible from your myNAATI portal.
Practitioners will continue to receive physical stamps and ID cards in addition to having access to the digital ID forms for the next couple of years while we determine acceptance and use cases.
Digital ID stamps and ID cards can only be downloaded by practitioners who sign into their myNAATI account using a password and who have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled on their account. The MFA condition ensures the security required for digital verification, and we recommend it for all practitioners regardless of their use of digital ID.
Security upgrades
We have initiated several additional security features to our systems, including overall NAATI adherence to the Australian Cyber Security Centre Essential 8 security framework across the organisation.
You can set up MFA by following these instructions:
- Log into myNAATI
- Select “My Account”
- Select “Multi Factor Authentication”
- Follow the instructions to set up MFA. We recommend using Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator as your MFA app.
- When you log into your myNAATI account in the future you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code from the authenticator app in addition to your password.
To update the information displayed, once logged into myNAATI
- Select “My Account”
- Select “My Profile”
- Update contact details as required.
You can also modify the directory listings from the “My Credentials” area of myNAATI.
In practice this means that files such as ID and transcripts will automatically be removed from our system after an application has been completed, and documents used as part of recertification will be removed once audits are completed.
Information related to these files will be retained such as the name of the document and date uploaded. However deleting the physical documents provides more protection of candidate and practitioner information in the unlikely event of a security breach.
In limited circumstances this may result in you needing to provide another copy of information you’ve provided to us previously.
New testing policies and practice tests
For practitioners that are looking to add to their existing credentials with a new skill or increase the level of certification they hold we have made some improvements to testing.
Faster application processing with less data requirements
For candidates and practitioners that apply for a test type they have already sat before, or for a credential they already hold in a different language, applications are now automatically approved rather than being assessed by a NAATI staff member.
Improved cancellation and rescheduling policy
We have amended our cancellation and rescheduling policy to provide better support to candidates. You can read more about this in our Terms and Conditions.
We have also improved how our system handles PayPal refunds to ensure that candidates can obtain a refund without requiring assistance.
New assessed practice tests available
In addition to the free practice tests and practice materials we already provide via our website and NAATI Learn, our learning management system, we have now introduced assessed practice tests for Credentialed Community Language (CCL) and Certified Translator (CT) tests for a fee.
You can read more about the new practice tests, their conditions and fees here.
Other changes
We have made a lot of other changes across our systems to help the NAATI team better support practitioners, examiners and candidates. You won’t see any of these features, and we won’t bore you with the details, but it’s all part of our commitment to continual improvement and improving our productivity.
