Courses & Workshops

NAATI run a number of workshops and courses mainly to assist candidates preparing for a NAATI accreditation test. Some of our courses and workshops can also help working translators and interpreters with professional development.

Occasionally, we'll also promote other professional development opportunities here that are run by our industry partners.

At times, distance can make it difficult for individuals to access training opportunities. To assist practitioners, NAATI has developed two online courses that can be accessed by anyone with a computer and an internet connection.

Read more about each course below or get started using the following links:

Introduction to Interpreting

The ‘Introduction to Interpreting’ course will help you start building the knowledge and skills you will use as an accredited or recognised interpreter. The course includes exercises and tests to help you improve your skills.

This course is appropriate for anyone:

Behaving Ethically

The aim of this course is to provide you with a sound knowledge of the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) Code of Ethics, the principles that underpin the AUSIT Code of Ethics, and the skills to apply the principles in real life situations.

The course includes case studies and tests to assist with your learning.

This course is appropriate for anyone:

NAATI run short workshops in most states which will give you basic information about interpreting or translation techniques and tips on how to prepare for a NAATI accreditation Test.

But remember! A workshop is not the same as doing a course at an institution or university – doing a workshop does not mean you will pass a NAATI accreditation test.
